"Catfish Gold" now there is a con if there ever was one. The magazine went belly up but the owner still was selling subscriptions and keeping peoples money when in fact knew the magazine was not being published and would not be published. Reeks of the Catfish&Crappe Association of Texas. I feel sorry for the guides who got suckered into that trap.

Jackie, Your comment is funnier that most folks will ever know. You could be on the right track. It does smell funny. c.c.a.t. LOL-- LOL
Now, In years passed I've used Danny King's punch bait and caught fish. Just not as many as I can with Sure Shot. I know lots of fishermen that use D/K because it's easy to find and they have never used Sure Shot. I don't think Benny Roberts wants to sell that much bait in the first place. I believe he's happy with what he sells. I know his costumers are happy with his bait.

I made the mistake of having a tub of the stuff rolling around in the bottom of my boat Saturday night. I bought it a while back and never used it for anything. I started to smell something that smelled like rotten cheese or something like that when I was catching Reds and started looking around the boat only to find that while running around fighting a fish I had stepped on the jar and broke it. Now my boat is really funky. Anybody know how to get that smell out?

Probably have to close the lake after that. I pulled the plug on the boat after I got it on the trailer to try and wash it out but it still stank when I got back to the storage in Lewisville.

If you know Danny King you can't help but like him. He is one funny serious good fisherman. When he was making the bait or he and/or his wife was directly supervising the operation it turned out a great product that worked and was touted by many. Danny worked hard in the bait business and sold a product that was guaranteed to catch fish. He finally got the product in WalMart and things got good in a hurry. As many people do Danny sold the business or a large percentage to someone who was a more interested in profit potential than quality bait. From what I have heard the new owner or controller started pushing a diluted or less than desirable product that left a lot to be desired. I just know that all the boys who once posted about how they used DK to catch limits suddenly switched to another brand of punch bait. They kept right on hawking the current product as the greatest thing since sliced bread. I guess you do that for sponsors or when you find out that some other baits work the same, better, or just as good as the miracle stuff you have been promoting. I do hope Danny put lots of getus in his pocket from the sale of the business, he deserves it because he worked hard for many years in promoting and using his bait. Danny King with that trademark hen egg size chaw in his cheek was a fun person to be around and easy to like.

I've never met Danny but I sure enjoyed him on catfish radio when it was on. That big plug in his jaw reminds me of my grandpa with a huge wad of beechnut .

I found this thread and I can say I have used Danny King Punch bait but I have to say I never found it to be a good bait for me, I now feel this may have been the way I was fishing it. What made me want to make an entry on this subject was previous entries referring to SURESHOT.
I was transferred from Carswell in 2006 to Robins AFB, Warner Robins (home of the 2007 Little League World Champions) GA. Before leaving Texas I had used SURESHOT and found it to be the best stink bait I had ever used. When I arrived in GA I found the state has small reservoirs call “Public Fishing Areas” (PFA). They are small city park, not large usually around 100 acres total but what makes the PFA special they are for fishing ONLY, full of stumps in the middle and a 25 foot strip around the banks was cleared out for boat movement. Because they are for fishing only there are special rules in a PFA, for example only 5 catfish per person per day, all PFAs close at sundown and open till sunrise, to fish in a PFA you have to have a PFA fishing license ($9.00/yr) and a GA fishing license (about $7.00/yr), the PFA I fish at all bass are catch and release, all PFAs have game wardens on duty every day and they will meet you at the dock to check your catch (1 catfish over the limit the judge will fine you $350.00 each), the state stocks each PFA every year, the PFA I fish receives catfish and bass. I had been fishing the PFA for catfish about 3 months and had not caught a thing. I ask the Warden what was a good bait, he listed every bait I had been using and said due to all the cover and the ample bait fish a string of 5 catfish was unusual in at PFA. This p[lace was a catfish haven but I could not gat even a bite. I finally had my fill and decided to order a 2 gal bucket of SURESHOT, that did the trick. Since I started using SURESHOT I have not come home without my limit of catfish. I wont go fishing without it.

Jackie tells me the same thing about Sureshot, he does not fish any kind of stink bait but if he had to, he said Sureshot would be the one.
